Sony gives your media to thieves

That is right if your PlayStation 3 is stolen if you replace it you will not be able to download all of the things you paid for like your Rock Band Songs, Sing Star songs, Videos and Purchased games. This happened to me and when I replaced my PS3 I figured I would just be able to download all of my media again. That did not work, so I tried account management figuring all I needed to do was associate my new console with my account. Nope, since my old console is still associated with my account the new console cannot be. And here is the great part it tells you that you have to use the old console to deactivate the old console before you can activate the new on. Of course if you have replaced your stolen PS3 that is a reasonable expectation, NOT. But I still had faith, so I called Sony tech support figuring that all I need to do is tell them my stolen consoles serial number and my new ones serial number and all will be well with the world. Nope, they tell me that I need to write down a bunch of information and fax that with a copy of my receipt and then a week later it will be fixed.

Well I faxed in every thing they requested and wait a week and it still does not work. So I call them and they tell me that they did not receive the fax and that I needed to send it again. So I have my attorney send the fax the second time since he has the most reliable fax machine I know of. One week later still no access to my media, call again and wouldn't you know it they say "We don't know what happened to the fax we did not receive it."

So now I write this, to let other consumers know that Sony will happily give your paid for media to any thief that steals our PS3 and do their best to get you to pay for all of your downloads again. This is the one reason that I am seriously thinking about going back to XBox 360, apparently on a 360 you can manage your licenses from your account and never loose your media. I doubt that I will ever make another purchase from the PS store again and may very well be getting a 360 with my tax return.
